Exam over!

This one supposed to be posted three days ago. But here are some excuses:

1. The day when we finished the exam, all the Durham people went out to Shibuya to have a drink. Actually not just ‘a’, it was ‘a lot’. So I couldn’t write anything…

2. The next day, seriously hangover, my brain didn’t work for me, so I let it have a rest for one day. Didn’t write anything…

3. Yesterday, went to Bekkan tried to have my interview with the teachers for next term, but they asked me to come today:( Bad mood = not writing…

4. Today: Finally get to put something here!

Anyway, the exam was ok, not as difficult as I expected. I think (hope) I will be able to pass. So now it’s time to get to do with my Yoshinoya presentation and discussion preparation in my seminar group, and then the project for Durham.

Using Gmail to send mobile message

Firstly I have to say this only work in Japan, or maybe Korea as well. Because the mobiles in Japan can send and receive emails like phone messages in the other countries. This is very convenient for me to contact friends or students while I have Internet access.

What you need to do first is to have a Gmail account. If you don’t and want one, leave your email here, I can send you an invitation then you can sign up for one. If you already have one, here is my way to do it, have a try.

  1. Send an email to a mobile email address.
  2. Set up a Filter to generate the email coming from my friend’s email address.

  3. Press "Next Step", then click the "Forward it to" box, write down my mobile phone’s email address. This step can let me receive the email immediately to my mobile when you are out of Internet.

Ok,Done! Actually this not just work as phone emails, but any other emails as well.

(-.-ll) Well, after I wrote down this, feeling a bit unnecessary to write this, because it’s so easy. Anyway, hopefully it will be helpful to somebody who doesn’t know about it.

DONE! Archive.org

Finally I can upload my DEAS video to Archive.org Archive.org successful after one fail trying.

The first time I was using FTP software to upload, but that turned up to be a result that my file was "disappeared". So this time I used  ccPublisher to do it. At the last step it provided me a link where my video will be allocated after verification. That’s the one I didn’t get at the first time, no wonder my file was "lost"

Here is a simple instruction of my trying (originally from Michael Verdi)

1. Sign up for Archive.org

2. Download ccPublisher to upload your video or audio file (follow the instruction carefully)

3. Bookmark or write down the link they provide at the last step

4. Check that link out in 24 hours after uploading your file, OR you can go to their Contributions page to see the process.

That’s all! Actually it’s not that difficult but just need to try :)

Am I really that popular or ….

I guess not just me, a lot people may have got this kind of "invitation letter" from a website (no name here because I don’t want to be their promotion tool). One time my Japanese teacher asked me to help her because she got this invitation letter from her friend’s email address and said "this is the third time he/she invite you to join". She was quite panic as she didn’t know whether to register on that site or not.

This kind of spam is very evil! I think all my friends who sent this letter to me even themselves don’t know about it. It must be sent automatically. And because of it’s sent by your friends, you may just go there and register. Then this kind of "friend sending network" will expand bigger and bigger.

I have got more than 50 invitation letter from the same site so far, some of them were from the same person. Usually I click the delete box and put them into trash right away.
