Zenphoto

For the last few days I have been playing with ZenPhoto. It’s worth to have a recommend here. My demo R.Gallery.

I have been wanting to make a online album for quite a while. Before Flickr was enough for me, and I have been a loyal pro-user for two years now. However it was blocked in China now and my family can’t get to see the photos there. So now it’s time to make one that is more visible in China.

I have searched some softwares before. Simple Viewer was a nice one but a bit too simple. Gallery‘s got a lot of cool stuffs but just got a bit too complicated for my use. I found Zenphoto in a forum a few days ago and can’t stop uploading photos to it now. It’s simple, precise and do the job as you want – show the photos let people comment on it. It’s also capable with WordPress with quite a few plugins. I might try them on in future.

However, there are only a limited number of themes available. They are all very nice, but I hope more cool themes come out as the user group expands. The one I’m using for my R.Gallery is called Effervescent, design by Stéphane Angoulvant. It’s not properly released yet. Actually it’s me asking Stéphane to help making the index page. I really like the design! Thanks to him, I’ve got a semi-professional look of the gallery now.

I’m still uploading more photos, it’s going to take a while before I can roughly explored my 8G+ photos. I just started to use Picasa and found it’s a really good organising software. My old laptop just too old to run it so never got to try out.
