Strike

Seriously, the postal strike has caused enough troubles to me that I have to write something here. Many posts for my work permit application has been delayed, so do some documents sent to my company.

There are too many strikes in Britain, and most of them got what they want by causing a lot of problems to others. I’m not saying that go on a strike is wrong, but there must be a better way to do that.

I remember a story from my Japanese teacher about how Japanese tube workers go on strike. Instead of not going to work and let the whole tube system stop in Tokyo, they turn up to work as usual. So what’s the strike action? Well, they simply let their customers take the tube for free. Imagine how much will the companies make a lost if they keep doing that for just a week? The tube is still working, people can still go to work on time, no songs like “The underground” is ever heard in Japan. When my teacher described that story to me, she added “because other people need to go to work”. I admire the work ethic of the Japanese.

I am not sure whether this story is true or not, but certainly it’s a more peaceful and effective way to strike without causing troubles to others, but the employers.

But well, maybe I should feel lucky that I’m not in France.
