Public Holiday in China

I called my family yesterday to see how did they enjoy the one week public holiday in China. My mum said they didn’t go anywhere but stayed at home. It totally makes sense if you look at the photos below. (via bemike)

Public Holiday in China 1

There are two national holidays in China, one is the week begins with 1st May (International Worker Day), the other one week starts from 1st October (National Day of China). It’s good idea to go out, but certainly not if you follow the “crowd” (do mean it!). A piece of advice to travelers: don’t plan to travel in major cities in China during these two periods, unless you want to experience the population issue.

By the way, is this what Golden Week like in Japan, or some sorts of picking shell competition?

Visit Studioduplo

I wrote about studioduplo.com before. Two days ago I finally made me visit to Studioduplo in town. It’s really cool and I like the casual designer atmosphere very much!

I might spend more time over there after my exams, just love the atmosphere and the designer spirit. I’ve got so much want to talk about this young entrepreneurial start-up, but because there might be some aspects regarding to business privacy, I’d better leave them to a podcast with James and he will talk about them.

Here are some photos to share. Good luck with the excellent young guys!

Explore China

Explore China

I found a documentary in Explore.org about China. I watched it while I was having dinner tonight, some of them are quite interesting, especially Calligraphy Master and Rural Women. But like most other reports or documentaries, it can only show part of the country and its current dramatic changes. I like a comment said by my professor in Nihon University - you can never have a “China expert”, the country is too big to be understood as a whole. It’s like the story of The blind men and the elephant, although we are not blind, but few can see the whole picture.

Yes or No, KoToNoHa

I know I should really focus on my revision now, but I just can’t concentrate and feel like doing something else that may waste more time and make myself feel worse so I can push myself to work harder later. So here comes this post.

KoToNoHa

I found an interesting Japanese SNS-like site called KoToNoHa. If you are a Japanese learners, I’m sure you will like it too! It’s like a forum basically, but the difference is that you can only post a short question with a “Yes or No” (or “agree or not”) answers. Followers can choose either a circle (agree) or a cross (disagree) and leave a short comment. It’s not complicated at all, but what makes it so interesting is some topic that people posted, like “Have you worked more than 20 hours a day?” or “Are the students sit at the back of classroom are generally bad students?“. I posted one “Are you Japanese learner?“, and got one reply saying “yes, since I was born”, and “No, I’m a Japanese user”. LoL!

It might not be a very appropriate time to post about any SNS related sites during revision periods, but for Japanese learners, you may want it as an excuse to escape from revisions. You can learn quite a lot Japanese slangs that can’t found not in textbook. But don’t blame me if you fail your exam though.

OK, back to reading!!
