Public Holiday in China

3 years, 123 days ago (May 11, 2007)

I called my family yesterday to see how did they enjoy the one week public holiday in China. My mum said they didn’t go anywhere but stayed at home. It totally makes sense if you look at the photos below. (via bemike)

There are two national holidays in China, one is the week begins with 1st May (International Worker Day), the other one week starts from 1st October (National Day of China). It’s good idea to go out, but certainly not if you follow the “crowd” (do mean it!). A piece of advice to travelers: don’t plan to travel in major cities in China during these two periods, unless you want to experience the population issue.

By the way, is this what Golden Week like in Japan, or some sorts of picking shell competition?

omg, so many people!!!
that looks so uncomfortable and I bet there were loads of thieves around picking pocketss.. hm, if someone has loads of money they should consider flying to somewhere else (another country) to spend the day. That’ll be perfect! ^^ maybe…. to…. SINGAPORE!^^

wow! chinese power!! “i wish I can fly!” should be something in everybody’s head in the photos.
GW in Japan…was very crowded, but still can not compare with China though. The photos of GW are only showing some really popular places..basically I think you can even find more Japanese visitors in south east Asia, or Taiwan and Korea.
btw, I am in Nikko as a compensation of my GW, and I found there were not many shops open today and most windows in hotels are dark, though it is Sat.! well, I guess people working in tourist places here are finally able to start their own GW now.
