Good management

The more I work with people and friends, and more I realise management is not a easy subject. These days I came to realise that a good management is:

To manage people to work effectively, but more importantly, happily!

The “happily” part makes me think a lot, and also learn a lot.

So the benchmark for a good job is to do what you are interested on the one hand, and on the other, you do the very job with the people who you would like to be together…..

You are right. These two conditions make finding a good and suitable job very difficult. I remember a slogan from one company, something like “if you like your job, you don’t need to work one more day”.

Exactly true….so many people like me are on the way….

These days,I phone interviewed several of our applicants from Durham Business School(since I was attracted by the title of Durham and then picked them up…),some of whom really impressed me,however, some of them are far below my expections, even their English proficiency….I could not imagine how one school can foster that different kind of people…But in fact,it is true….

I guess tthat you may know some of them…Once I got the intuition to ask them the last question on whether they know of you…If the answer was Yes,I would let them pass the screening…hehe ,Joking….^=^

Well, Harvard has students fails every year. What I’m trying to say is that every school has good students as well as bad ones. It’s definitely pound and exciting to see some Chinese students achieve distinct degrees, but sometimes we just have to face the fact that some students just come, pay, play and go back with a title “I’ve studied abroad”.

I’m trying to be those who really do work and be responsible for expensive tuition fees paid by my parents.

I only know a few Chinese postgraduate students here. Postgraduates doesn’t mix with undergraduates very well here, maybe because they are busy with work and have little time to socialise. I will be very surprised if some of your Durham candidates know me tho! But please be strict with your interview process, knowing Richard might mean they visit the bar frequently, haha!
