Back in Durham

I arrived in Durham yesterday afternoon. Standing almost 6 hours in the train is not a joy memory, but the ticket price indeed save me a lot in my recent economic crisis after travelling. It’s cheaper to book a train ticket one month in advance, but others know that too. That’s why the train was so crowed.

Shoichi Hall
Anyway, I have settled down. I’m living in Shoichi Hall this year. Shoichi Hall is Teikyo student’s dormitory, but they do take some international students here. I applied here last term because it’s closed to my department as well as the library. And another exciting thing I found out after arriving here is those non-Teikyo students. They are all international students and very friendly. Just like in hostel, they are from all over the world. I like living with international students, partly because I am one of them, but more because they are more open-minded and interested in other cultures. It’s going to be fun this year!

Freshers’ week
I went down to Tesco this afternoon. I have never seen that many people in Tesco before, they almost need some traffic lights to control those carts.

New students are coming this weekend. College reps are everywhere guiding and showing them around. It’s interesting to see those freshers, just like a reflection of myself four years ago. Exciting, a bit scary! How time flies, I am going to be a finalist.

Fresher’s Fair
Our society – AJS, Anglo-Japanese Society – is going to have an introduction and registration section in the fresh fair. I just had a meeting with other execs to talk about the details. Although it’s going to be very busy on our studies, we are still going to try our best to keep the society running and organise events.

I am really looking forward to this year, it’s going to be the last, but it’s going to be the best!
