New Google talk update

4 years, 159 days ago (April 1, 2006)

My friend sent me a link for downloading the latest Google talk. I thought normally Gtalk will update itself automatically without any notification, like any previous versions, but this one is not the same. From the downloading address we can tell it’s from one of its desktop plugin, not from Gtalk’s official page. Downloading link:

http://desktop.google.com/download/googletalk/googletalk-setup-testing.exe

In this latest one you can change the appearance of the chatting dialog window. Also it starts supporting customizing your own image. These are the two most noticeable features I have found so far, don’t know what’s actually changed inside. I’ve captured two screenshots for preview:

By the way, I just had a quick look on its desktop software as well. It took up quite a bit CPU resource when I first installed it, so it was taken out of my hard disk quickly. But from its development now, it seems it’s getting smaller and more customized. With those optional plugins, isn’t it looks like the so-call ‘google OS’?

Ps. Happy birthday to Gmail.
