Just came back from a drink with some friends who are back to Durham. New term is starting next Monday so some of the students are back earlier to settle down and get ready for classes. I got a welcome email from college today as well. Normal student life seems back to me again!
I went down to town today and saw quite a few students. Really, Durham is different when there are students walking around and stop for a chat on the streets. It just looks more like Durham to me, the image of student town, lively! I have finally got a chance to experience the so-call ‘empty Durham’ during holiday, indeed it was quite empty.
For warming up of the term, I’ve got a speaking test right at the beginning of next week and it’s SUMMATIVE one. Since starting from third year all marks are counted for final degree, everyone is really working hard, especially for all those summative ones. Apart of this oral test, I’ve still got two more essays due in the middle of the term and expecting some more to come. The second term seems to be the busiest one.
Anyway, as a saying goes, ‘working people are looking forward for holiday; holiday people are looking forward for work’, I am happy to be back to normal student life.
