Over the last one month, my blog has been gone through a lot of hardship. Started from the request of MII for domain registration, it has been moved from one host to another, and then be upgraded to WordPress 2.0 (although it was not that much trouble), and finally be moved back to its original host now.
The most difficult time was the moving back part. The MySql version in uni’s was 4.1.14 but the original one was 4.0.21, for this reason when I restore data to the lower version it always pop up a error message. So I drop a question in WP forum and thanks Podz for helping me.
The reason why I let my blog, of course me as well, go through so much hassles was the domain problems. The university said they don’t support domain directing in its host so I can’t use RichardHong.com to it. I know I can still use the sub-domain they provides for the next one or two years, but changing the address of a site is not good for search engine to track your links. So rather than change it a future, I did within this unstable time. And again, I took the risk of hosting in the Chinese company just for using my domain.
The traffic records of the blog in Google Analytics went down dramatically after 13th of December – the day they shut my site down in that Chinese host. I guessed many Chinese blogs underwent a hard time in the last one month as my one did, and some of them are continuingly suffering it. However, my one eventually get into a relatively stable condition now, but just don’t know what troublesome are they going to make again in future. :-(
One month nightmare, hopefully we can have some kind of rest now and start some normal blogging. BTW, RichardHong.com is valid now.
