It suddenly gets quite cold this week, but luckily we still have nice weather. This photo was taken in summer 2004. Check out the time on that photo, it was 11:23PM but the sky was not totally dark yet!
I don’t really like the winter in England, not just the cold and cloudy weather, but the daytime gets shorter and shorter everyday. After changing from the daylight saving time, it seems we got one more hour in bed before going to lecture every morning, but we also losing one more house in day time. It starts getting dark from 4pm now and by 5pm the sky is already in dark. This is going to be worse when it goes to January or February when you will feel it’s already evening at 3pm in the afternoon. Sometimes I got quite depressing of this kind of long darkness in cold winter.
But summer is totally oppositive. As you see in that photo, we get extra day time. So it might be already sunshine for you to go for morning jogging even it is only 5 o’clock in the morning. On the other hand, you will still see the sky still bright when you come out from a cinema at 10:30pm. It’s good for me though, but sometimes just get quite exciting and can’t fall to sleep until one or two o’clock in the morning.
I’ve been thinking a question: what if we change the time one hour forward in winter and one hour backward in summer, will it be better?
