Wireless network

We are using wireless network in our house. It’s certainly a very convenient devices for a student house as you don’t need to cross around the annoying cables, but there are more interesting things you can do with wireless network.

At the begging when we were trying to set up our network, my housemate Jay had a problem of registering his computer into our house’s network, even with a valid password. But accidentally his wireless card found there are other two networks are accessible without any password requires. He clicked and actually went through that network and get to the Internet. Of course it’s not a very safe way because the other people might get into his computer by some channels, but it worked!

I was just chatting the other friend who lives on the opposite side of the street of our house (there are quite a lot students living in this area). She got some problems with connecting her computer to her house’s wireless network as well. But her computer discovered at least 4 wireless networks around her house. The one she was using to access the Internet was her neighbor’s. What’s more surprised me was her computer can detect our house’s network, even cross a street?! That means if I give her the password of ours, she can just join us and share our music and pictures in an internal network.

How amazing is that! I think I will get a wireless adaptor. And next time when I move to house I’d better check weather my neighbor has a wireless network before applying for one, haha!
