MyShantou.net

This blog (site) was created this September. I haven’t officially announced it yet, but now I think it’s the time to introduce this blog.

Here is my original though of creating such a site. I’ve always wanted to do something for my hometown, especially after travelling to many other international cities and a comparison come to my mind of how far my hometown need to catch up to be a more modernised city.  Actually I have been maintaining another relatively local student forum BestFriendST.com (Chinese) for about 3 years already. Most of the registered users there are students in my hometown. Although it has been not very activated compare to some other forums, but we (users form that forum and me) strongly believe that there is a reason for us to keep it running.

MyShantou.net is currently run by Maggie – my friend who is from England and teaching in Shantou now. Thanks to her efforts, the blog has been keeping update in a regular time. To be honest, I am really appreciated that she can come and help maintain this blog. You shall see a really side of what shantou is from MyShantou.net. As what I wrote in that blog’s introduction, we want to provide something that you can’t find in ‘lovely planet’ or any other guide books.

I am still transferring the data of my Chinese blog to the new one. After that, I will put more efforts on maintaining and updating MyShantou.net. You are always welcome to take a look a there. And if you are planning to travel to South China, Shantou is a place you can’t miss :)
